These pictures are from our walk along the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail near the Marconi Station Site. As you can see, the kids have grown up quite a bit.  If you missed Part One, here's the link:   Cape Cod 2018 --Part One:

Photos--Barbados Relatives: Part Two

If you missed Part One, check out this link:   Photos --Barbados Relatives  Norma, Ruth, Jean? This photo I believe features Rupert's wife in the center. Not sure though and unfortunately, I don't know her name. The woman in the background on the left might be my grandfather's mother. This is just a guess though. My grandfather had two sisters perhaps this could be one of them.  Rupert Murrell's family The photos I posted the other day appear to be the house where my grandfather Harold Murrell Sr. grew up and his brother Rupert's family. From what my father told me, Rupert's kids names were Ruth, Norma, Jean, Lillian, Winston and Tommy.  I met Ruth, Lillian and Winston back in 1998 on a trip to Barbados

"Dad must have forgotten he had these." That's what I said to myself as I sat on the couch at my parents house looking through a memory box I had purchased as a a gift for him years ago. Among other pictures and what not, was an envelope labeled "Photos -- Barbados Relatives." I remember the disappointment in his voice as he told me the story of how his Barbados family didn't have any pictures to share with him when he met them for the first time. At some point, he must have recalled he had these. Were they photos his father had that he inherited? Or were these indeed pictures they had given him. Anyway, it's interesting how things have a way of turning up when you least expect it. It's also interesting how the universe has a way of delivering information to you when your inner voice asks questions. After I found these pictures, I wondered what it must have been like for my grandfather growing up in Marley Vale. What was the neighborhood like? Whe

It's My 7th Blogiversary!

Image
Okay I lied. Last Wednesday was my 7th blogiversary. That's two years in a row I forgot about my blogiversary. I'm going to have to set a reminder on my phone for next year. (Smile) Gosh, I can't believe it's been that long. Thank you to everyone who has followed me on my journey. This year I had all good intentions of keeping up with blogging a couple times a week but life kind of threw me a curve. With my dad passing away at the beginning of the year, there were more pressing matters for me to deal with.  Writing is important to me though and I have missed it. I'm going to do my best to get back on track and write on a more consistent basis.  With that all being said, let's see where this genealogy journey leads to this year.
