The Book Of Me: Prompt 30 --Your First Day Of School

If you are not familiar with this wonderful project that was created by Julie Goucher of the Angler's Rest blog, please refer to this link:  http://www.anglers-rest.net/book-of-me-written-by-you.html

This week's prompt is - Your First day of School
Do you remember the day?
The weather
What you wore
How you got there
Who took you to school
Where was the School
Any stories?
Friends
Teachers
How old were you?
Were you perhaps home schooled or taught in a different way to the usual traditional methods - such as were you in a remote area and lessons conducted using the phone etc
Do you have any other memories or thoughts of your first day of school?
Or perhaps ask a sibling, parent, child etc
Caution - do not spend lots of time on your junior school that will be in another prompt!.....

I slacked off all last week on My Book Of Me Prompts, while I was on vacation. Bad me (pretend hand slap.) So now I have to catch up even more. Oh well. In the words of my freshman year college roommate, "I'll get there...when I get there." (smile)

I truly have no recollection of my first day of school! Don't know if that's a good or bad thing. (I will assume that this is good and that it was an uneventful day and that's why I don't remember it.) Anyway, I attended parochial school up through the fourth grade. My brother and I went to St. Pascal's Baylon School in St. Albans, NY. I started kindergarten at the age of 4 because my birthday falls in October. I do know that I was happy because I didn't have to wear a uniform until I started the 1st grade.  Kindergartners could wear regular clothing as long as the clothes were neat and put together looking. My mother drove us to school every day.

Here's a picture of my kindergarten class. Had the best teacher ever, Mrs. Carroll. Sweet lady. I definitely miss her.  She was one of those teachers who always went the extra mile and took great care of her students.

I'm pictured in the middle row center. That jumpsuit is
something else isn't it? LOL. Definitely a 1970's thing.
