Something About Me Saturday: Making Candy Sushi With My Daughter

That's candy sushi folks. That's right. Candy sushi. Just another reason why I haven't been posting as often this year. I'm trying my darnedest these days to live a balanced life.  Balanced means living presently and spending quality time with the family. Quality time includes learning how to make candy sushi because my daughter really wants to make candy sushi with me. So we cued up this video by iHasCupquake on YouTube one September weekend and learned how to make candy sushi. 



Here's two pictures of my daughter's delicious creations. Okay, well I'm responsible for a couple of them but the majority were definitely her doing.

      I ate like one piece of what I made and that was about all the sugar I could handle. She ate only a couple but loved how everything turned out.

    Your daughter is a creative soul. How wise of you to prioritize making candy sushi with her. You are making memories that will sustain her always. And you, too.

      Her creativity amazes me. She's definitely a far better artist than I ever was. I am enjoying the time spent with her.

It's Been A Long Time

I wanted to say hello to everyone. I know it's been a long time since my last post. The world is in a much different space from when I last wrote on March 2nd. So am I. I hope and pray that all of you out there are safe and taking care of yourselves and your loved ones. Amanuensis Monday: Charity Ambrose Deed to Mt. Olive Methodist Church

At last, some genealogy right?!! LOL. I decided to jump back into things with an Amanuensis Monday post. I have to thank a fellow genealogy friend of mine who helped me out a couple of months ago, Nathaniel Glasgow. He brought to my attention a deed which documents the sale of about an acre land from a woman named Charity Ambrose  to the trustees of Mt. Olive AME Zion Church in Riverdale, NC. Guess who's listed among the trustees. My maternal 3rd great grandfather and his son, Mortimer and Alfred Mitchell.  State of North Carolina}      Craven County This deed made this 6th day of November in the year 1893 by Charity Ambrose of the first part of Craven County, and Mortimer Mitchell, Charles F. Hall, Anthony Dennis,  Edward Hooker, Killis Green, David Sampson, Phillis Borden, Ezekial Pastuer, and A. F. Mitchell of Craven County and State of North Carolina of the second part , Trustees of the Mt. Olive Church, African Methodist Episocpal Zion Church in America of No. 6

Pink Invitational 2020

Here's pictures of our beautiful girl back from injury. In the fall, she broke a bone in her left foot which took a long time to heal. These are pictures from her second competition of the season, Pink Invitational 2020. She's getting stronger every week. I loved watching her compete and hanging out with her teammates. They are so supportive of one another. No medals this time for her but she gained a bunch of her confidence back.  She competed late on Saturday February 22, 2020 so that involved an overnight stay in Philadelphia. I don't like driving long distances at night especially if I'm tired. The following day we spent time sightseeing and checking out a Blick art supply store that was near our hotel. OMG! If you love doing art, then you love Blick!
